If you have a salvage title car you can sell it as is either for parts or to let someone else repair.
If you plan to rebuild a salvage title in Colorado you will need to do a few things first:
1. Fill out a form called Salvage Title Statement of Fact found here: http://www.revenue.state.co.us/mv_dir/formspdf/2424.pdf
2.have the words “Rebuilt From Salvage” etched on the vehicle, usually this is placed on edge of the drivers door where the door closes (usually the VIN # is here too).
3.You’ll need to take the car or truck to a law enforcement officer to have it inspected to make sure it’s road worthy, note that there is a small fee for this service. The law enforcement officer will need to fill out this form for you: http://www.revenue.state.co.us/mv_dir/formspdf/2395.pdf
4. You’ll need to take your forms to a Titles and Registrations Office in Colorado along with any receipts and paperwork for parts used on the vehicle, all forms and the inspection approval.
A title labeled “Rebuilt from Salvage” will be issued upon completion of the above.
Please note: Per Colorado state law, if you’re planning to sell your once salvage title car that has since been rebuilt you will need to disclose to the buyer that the car was a salvage title at one time.

California Law on Salvage Title Autos
Search for salvage cars for sale within 200 miles of Sacramento CA
If your car has been in an accident or was damaged in some way so as the cost to repair it is more than the insurance company is willing to pay then it’s like your car or truck will be considered “totaled” and receive a salvage title. If this happens typically the insurance company pays you for your losses and sends you on your way. However, sometimes you may be able to negotiate with your insurance company to buy back the vehicle and keep it yourself to do with what you want.
If you decide to keep your salvage car you can rebuild it to make it drivable again, have a mechanic do it for you or sell the car for parts.
If you rebuild it you will need to make it street legal again. Make sure you keep every single receipt as you will need it for inspections to prove no stolen parts were used. When the salvage car is ready to go on the road again you will need to apply for a Title of Registration through the DMV (see link below), then you will need to make an appointment with your local DMV office or California Highway Patrol office to have it inspected. You’ll need to bring a bill of sale and proof of ownership with you. You will also need to get a Brake and Lights inspection. Check in your area for a certified inspector to do this for you. You may also need to get a smog certificate.
After the vehicle passes inspection, you’ve sent in your application and paid an inspection fee you will receive a new title deemed a Revived Title.
If you’ve purchased a salvage car for parts to rebuild a custom car you will also need to provide all receipts and have the car inspected before it is legal to drive.

Arizona Law on Salvage Titles
Search for salvage, wrecked, rebuildable cars for sale within 200 miles of Phoenix AZ
The law in Arizona regarding salvage title vehicles requires the car or truck to be restored in order to be able to drive it legally on the roads in Arizona. If your car receives a salvage title from the insurance company due to an accident, water damage or some other type of damage which was too costly to repair in the eyes of your insurance adjuster then you have the choice to keep it and rebuild it if you choose to.
If you decide you want to repair your vehicle and make it drivable again you may do it yourself.
After all repairs are done you will then need to get it inspected by the Motor Vehicle Division (MVD). There is a small fee you’ll have to pay, you’ll also need to bring your drivers license, all receipts for parts and work done on the car and the title of the vehicle. After the inspection is done, assuming it passes you will receive a Restored Title.
According to Arizona state law, if you decide to sell the car after it’s been restored you must disclose to the buyer that it had a salvage title.
